Potty Humor.

Potty Humor; anything scatalogical, regarding the body or it's functions that can regarded as humor.
This is a new area for Spatagram, but not unexpected. We'll attempt to deliver the freshest of this genre of joke.

" Guess what Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle found by trying to stop gay sex in the the public bathrooms at the beach?"

"A Senator from Idaho."

Regime, Regimen, Reg.

Today we'll tackle the other three R's; Regime, Regimen, and Reg. Regime is a word with French origins (regime) as well as Latin (regimin). I have always been in the thought process that regime and regimen were being unfairly abused, but alas and alack, they can be substituted at anytime for eachother. Regime not only means a mode or role of management, a form of government, and a period of rule. Regime also can mean a regular course of action such as strenuous training. To say that "Peron's regime was subject to a regime of jazzercise" would be correct and fatuous.

Regimen has it's roots in Middle English as well as in French. Is used to describe a systemic plan usually employed to better or sustain the health of the subject. It can be used to describe a diet or exercise plan. It can also be used to describe a regular course of action. And interchangeable with regime it can be used ot describe a government or rule.

Reg is Sir Elton John's nickname. It's taken from his real name Reginald Dwight. Reg was made public on his commercial success album, Reg Strikes Back circa 1983. This rockstar has is not known for any exercise regimen but his regime as a diva. Husband David Furnish's documentary on the Reg's behavior, Tantrums And Tiaras, made Genghis Khan look like a pushover. Calling the Japanese Press a pack of "pigs" marked a high point for Reg's regime of terror in 06. His comments are as legendary as his showmanship. At one point owning two hundred wigs and twice as man sunglasses, the rockstar has narrowly avoided bankrupcy living such a large lifestyle.

Image spitting.

It's crazy the stuff you find on the internet. Like this blog for instance. I'm sort of a collector. Well, that' not accurate, I'm a packrat, descended from fine sicillian packrats. It doesn't matter what it is, we'll find a use for it, so wrap it and save it. It doesn't matter if it's a comic book, a stamp, string or a meatball; save it because you never know............................

Now I'm on to images and photos. Here's one I came across that's pretty enjoyable, sent to me by another greenbeerenthusiast; H. She, Me and my Pa all dig the Heineken

This is why I love people; yankee ingenuity.

I love celebrityathletes. I especially love their follies. But what I really love are the PT Barnum's that come out of the woodwork to make a buck on these freaks.

Happy Birthday Bro!

Happy Birthday to a man who changed my life, inadvertently, Duke Kahanamoku. Today would have been his 117th Bday. Anything connected to the number 17 is alright by me. The profile is from the Surfer's Hall of Fame.

DUKE PAOA KAHANAMOKU(1890-1968) First athlete from Hawai'i to win an Olympic gold medal.Father of surfing.
Duke Kahanamoku was Hawai'i's first Olympic medalist. He participated in four Olympic Games: 1912 in Stockholm, Sweden (one gold and one silver medal); 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium (two gold medals); 1924 in Paris (one silver medal). Duke won a total of five Olympic medals! He is a member of the Olympic Hall of Fame. At age 42, he retired from competitive swimming.
In Hawaii we greet friends, loved ones or strangers with ALOHA, which means WITH
LOVE. ALOHA is the key-word to the universal spirit of real hospitality,
which makes Hawaii renowned as the world’s center of understanding and
fellowship.Try meeting or leaving people with ALOHA. You’ll be surprised
by their reaction. I believe it and it is my creed. Aloha to
you.”
—Duke Kahanamoku
Duke also won the 100-meter free-style Amateur Athletic Union Outdoor Championships in 1916, 1917 and 1920. A Hawaiian representing the United States, Duke preceded Johnny Weissmuller as "The World's Fastest Swimmer." Duke replaced the outmoded "scissors kick" with his novel "flutter kick."
In Paris at the 1924 Olympics, three of the Kahanamoku brothers qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team - Duke, Sam and David. Duke won a silver medal in the 100-meter free-style swim, and Sam won a bronze medal in the same division.
Duke was involved with other sports, as well. In 1908, Duke and his friends organized one of the first amateur surfing clubs, Hui Nalu (Club of the Waves). They discussed the condition of the surf and formulated some of the rules in use today. As a famous swimmer, Duke traveled abroad to teach water-safety methods for the Red Cross. Wherever he traveled, Duke introduced his first love - surfing
Duke also pioneered tandem surfing (one surfer sitting on the shoulders of another) in 1919. He was the first to wind-surf (to use a sail attached to a surfboard) and the first to wake-surf (on the wake behind a motorboat).
In 1966, Kahanamoku was the first inductee into the Surfing Hall of Fame.

Star Struck.

I'm seriously believing the rumors that Star Jones is the illegitimate daughter of Kermit The Frog and Sally Jessie Rafael. What do you think?

Like Riding A Bicycle.

After several years in storage I decided to clean and restore my bike. I've been wanting to get different with the exercise thing and thought I'd start here. I didn't do the actual work, hell no, some nice guys over in Universal City came through for me. I shiny red road/trail hybrid and I were ready to embrace the asphalt.

'Like Riding A Bicycle' is an expression probably as old as the bicycle itself. It is meant to define the the rapid return of skills learned previously. It is meant to mean that, but last sunday I disproved the theory by means of embracing asphalt. I was armed with my mp3, sunscreen and sunglasses (I would be incognito if I embarassed myself) Helmet, schmelmet, I was going down in flames if I had to, but not a mach speed. I told the neighbors to come looking if I hadn't made it home by dark. My ambulatory skills slowly returned, and weren't seats more comfortable 'back then'. I was observing life at a different rate of speed and perspective. The insights that are coming from my new activity are promising. However certain learning curves are not so nice. Spacial awareness is a sense I'm awaiting to return. Who knew how close the streetsign was from the wall? Not me but my temple learned on that miscalculation. And certain curbs need to jumped up onto with the right amount of speed and lift. Was it an error in judgement to be out here in the first place? Or an error in judgement of space? This was going through my mind as acquired asphalt as my new teacher.

Two scraped knees, one elbow, and one bleeding calf later I called it a day. The sun was hot, the music great and my body had seen enough education at this point. I asked myself, "Self, was it as easy as riding a bicycle?" It wasn't as easy I remembered but I guess we can chalk that up to getting older. That little expression is meant to blindly encourage I discovered that day. I'll think twice about what I'm going to get my friend into when I employ it. Easy? The only thing easy in life is Sunday Morning, For Sure.

Grande Dame of New York society; Brooke Astor dead at 105.

When Brooke Marshall was born in March of 1905 Teddy Roosevelt was president of the 45 United States and the Wright Brothers had yet to make their legendary flight. More than a century later we have less of a president, more of the United States and.........air travel.

When Brooke's husband died in the sixties he left her the Astor family fortune estimated at the time to be about 60 Million dollars. The family fortune came to be from the fur trade in the early 1800's that William Backhouse Astor parlayed into real estate, especially in New Amsterdam (Manhattan). Brooke recognized that she could help so many through giving the fortune away and turned the Vincent Astor Foundation into the largest philanthropic organization that New York had never seen. It's estimated that the foundation has given over 200 Million dollars to New York in it's deeds; The Fresh Air Fund, The Lighthouse For The Blind, The New York Public Library among it's top noted efforts. Brooke Astor was also key in Jacqueline Onassis efforts to preserve Grand Central Terminal.

Mrs. Astor walked with kings, Kissinger's, and Kennedy's. It was her warmth that is always remembered, her warmth to whomever she spoke with. Her grace and generosity of spirit are an homage to a time gone by. Her success so late in life, she rose to Grande Dame Status in New York in her eighties, is an inspiration to us all. A kindly hostess to her guests at her table, as well as to the city she loved so much.
